"My Secret", is an original song, written by Marlena Lorèn Khramov (Ukulena), and Henry Wagons, summer 2019. Marlena & Henry have known each other since 2012, when Marlena & her Nesting Dolls sister, Mikayla, saw Henry's band, Wagons, for the first time, rock at The Echo in LA. So many years later, 2019, Henry is back in LA, Marlena goes to support his solo performance at The Bootleg Theatre in LA, & Henry a few weeks later asks Marlena to come write a song with him! It was the greatest song-writing and recording session for Marlena. She loved the professionalism and dedication of work Henry put in. Marlena read him her opening lyric she wrote years ago, "Just like the ocean, I'm in love with the moon.." Henry loved the vibe, they brainstormed, & he continued with the following lyric, "it's my nightlight, the sun always comes too soon.." Then the words started pouring. They both take equally 50/50 of the writing & composition/instrumentation.
Leaving to head back home to his family in Australia, Henry takes Ukulena's recordings, and finishes the music behind the rough demo in Australia. He shortly sends back a sound Ukulena was not expecting. It brought tears to her eyes of how much Henry put into their song. He wanted to keep Ukulena's oceanic aesthetic. And she has been working on perfecting the dreaminess all year long. Finally July 2020, Marlena (aka Ukulena), mastered the official final mix with David Williams in Melrose Music ~ Hollywood & Palm Springs.
We all hope you enjoy this passionately dreamy song. It's finally not a secret anymore. The meaning behind the song is about the moon being Ukulena's guide, her nightlight; she is a night owl, one with the stars, the moon, the universe, the nightlife. Her secrets prevail during the night, she is mysterious in her own craft, you never know what Ukulena is stirring up her glamorous sleeves. She sways with the ocean, she lights up the night, almost if the moon is casting a spell on her; she is a siren. Let her dream, let her serenade. The final lyric of the songs goes, "I wish it was the both of us.." wanting whoever crosses her path, to understand her. So until she is heard, her secrets stay confidential with the moon.
lyrics
My Secret
by Ukulena feat. Henry Wagons
"Just like the ocean, I’m in love with the moon..
It’s my nightlight, the sun always comes too soon..
Its my little secret
Everyone is asleep
It my little secret
Only mine to keep
Decending line
Ooohs
I sway along with the water, as it ripples on the shore..
The Moon is drifting further, the wind whistles along some more..
Its my little secret
The stars in the sky
It my little secret
Just between you and I
Decending line
Ooohs
Bridge:
Here’s the sunrise (here's the sunrise now)
I know you’re getting up (time to meet the crash)
Here’s the morning light (the morning light)
Please don’t wake me up
Still my little secret (secret)
Even though the sun’s comin' up (sun's coming' up)
It my little secret (secret)
Please don’t wake me up (wake me up)
It my little secret (secret)
Descending riff
Ooohs
I wish it was the both of us.."
